polysomnography Electronic monitoring of a sleeping patient to look for abnormalities in sleep patterns and/or brain waves. Polysomnography correlates electroencephalogram readings with observation of the patient. Usually, respiration, oxygen saturation, body position, and other factors are also measured during polysomnography.
